About Umaid Bhawan Palace
One of the world's largest private residences — sandstone monumentality, Art Deco interiors, and the closest you'll come to marrying royalty.
Commissioned by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1929 to give famine-stricken Jodhpur three thousand jobs over fifteen years. The Rathore family still resides in one wing; the rest is now the most ceremonial wedding palace in India.
